LSA Cleaning is a family-run business based on the Fylde Coast. Owner Ian Squire hasn’t always been involved in this industry. In fact, a battle with a jar of beetroot, which he lost, changed the path of Ian’s career forever.
The beetroot “incident” occurred shortly after Ian’s wife Kirsten had just had fitted a new wool carpet. Learning the ” hard way” that carpet stains can be difficult to remove, Ian paid out a fair wad of cash to hire a DIY carpet cleaning machine, from a local supermarket. Having hired the machine, bought the cleaning detergent, Ian set about tackling the beetroot stain. Alas, the results were disappointing. Carrying out more research into carpet cleaning methods opened up a whole new world for Ian. He was drawn deeper into this growing service industry and shortly after formed Lytham St Annes Carpet Cleaning.
Ian says he is now totally thankful for the beetroot incident!
Ian has lived and worked locally for over 25 years. He was a teacher in primary and special needs schools across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde, Ian especially enjoyed contributing to projects enabling disabled children to participate in sport and leisure activities. In fact his love of teaching remains as he now also on a part-time basis leads a successful education project for disadvantaged children at the children’s charity where his heart lies, Aspired Futures in Blackpool.
From early childhood growing up in the north east, Ian always had a secret yearning to run his own business, though was never quite sure what. He was itching to make a change and work for himself particularly where that could fit well with family life.
Always determined to do the very best job possible in life, Ian undertook specialist training from the industry’s most esteemed cleaning academy in the UK (Clean Smart) , opened Lytham St Annes Carpet Cleaning and has not looked back.
Ian says, “I hadn’t thought about carpet cleaning much before the infamous beetroot incident but actually there is quite a lot to it. I really enjoy arriving at a job, carrying out a survey and working out the best way to get the carpet as clean as possible. Better still I get a lot of satisfaction that customers are amazed at the end of the job when they regularly say their carpets look just like new again.
Now I’m up and running, work is building up at a steady pace with lots of referrals and repeat business. We have recently started working with hotels in Blackpool offering the ‘approved cleaning’ system for carpets, rugs, curtains and upholstery. The business motto – “Here to help, always at your service”.”
Lytham St Annes Cleaning are also expanding into the area’s thriving tourism scene. Ian says “ I’ve done some research and found a great gap in the market for hotels and guest houses over the quieter winter months – we’re offering full professional mattress cleans with a recognised industry approval trademark, giving the hotel or establishment a logoed window sticker with quality assurance – this can also be used on any physical or online marketing material that the establishment produces.
When taking my wife away for a well- deserved break, I know exactly which hotel she would insist on staying in – the one with the six- monthly cleaned mattress certificate!”
Ian has high dreams and aspirations – he is passionate about serving the cleaning needs of the Fylde coast, offering the very best standards and service possible. With expansion plans now being realised : a second van and more machinery, the future is bright.
